The latest data available from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) underscores a stark reality of an urgent public health issue. Approximately 46.3 million people ages 12 or older—almost 16 percent of the U.S. population—meet the criteria for a substance use disorder (SUD). And in 2021, a reported 94 percent of people with SUD did not receive any treatment for the condition.

In light of this, the federal government committed $9.7 billion to SAMHSA in 2022 to offer grant funding to a diverse range of local and state SUD treatment and prevention programs (among others).

As the data is submitted to the solution, the system processes those files against established validation rules and vocabulary to ensure both the structure of the data are correct and the information is linked successfully to the appropriate tables within the database. This process makes it possible for state organizations to be confident the information contained within Blue Compass is correct and appropriate. Blue Compass data management contains all required administrative modules so our partners can manage users and permissions, submitter profiles and data access.
