Did you know healthcare data records can be sold for as much as $250 per record on the black market?

At FEI, IT security is serious business, especially because we house as much healthcare data as we do. In fact, our case management systems house millions of health records.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise then that our director of IT Security, Greg Jones, and his dedicated team act as internal auditors to protect those records (and our teams) from potential bad actors, evaluate FEI’s overall risk posture and align our risk with industry best practice.

Simply put, it’s their job to keep our systems secure, track ever-changing security regulations and make sure the healthcare data our customers collect and store on our platforms is safe.

“Our systems house millions of records, so our team has to be aware of all new governance and alerts from federal agencies,” Greg said. “We have to have continuous logging and monitoring of activity, and our team is awesome at staying on top of things.”

Our security team includes:

This group separates responsibilities into three pillars: governance and compliance, application security and engineering and architecture.

The job of the governance and compliance cohort is to audit and test our alignment with all state, federal and contractual requirements our implemented systems are subject to. The application security group scans our client systems for vulnerabilities that could be exploited. They also research any newly discovered vulnerabilities to reduce risk to our customers’ data. The engineering and architecture team protects our hosting infrastructure by facilitating our security training, managing our physical security systems (including badges and cameras) and handling configurations to our hosting infrastructure.
